UNIQLO Tate Play Painterly: Relaxed Hours

This event is sold out

Get ready to splash, squelch and unleash your love of painting with UNIQLO Tate Play

Taking inspiration from some of our wonderful abstract artworks by Agnes Martin, Cy Twombly and Huguette Caland, we want you and your family to come and get ‘painterly’ with us in the Clore Studio and on our South Landscape at Tate Modern. We will be encouraging you to get messy (in a good way) using action painting to project paint (don’t worry, it’s water-based as well as non-toxic). You’ll do this using our loaded tools, such as water pistols, firing your paint onto whiteboards.

This session is primarily for neurodivergent children and adults, and any other visitors with sensory needs who prefer a more relaxed experience, plus their families, friends and carers. Those who are looking for a playful-yet-still-relaxing hour to start the day with a dab of paint (or two) can visit the spaces with the energy levels taken down a notch.

Resources will be available on the day including:

  • Access Station
  • Reduced music
  • Ear defenders
  • A quiet breakout space
  • Slightly limited admissions so fewer people in the space

Tate staff will be aware that this is an access hour and will take that into consideration as they look after you and the artwork.
