These studies relate to the group of sleeping soldiers included in the lower half of a stained glass window design depicting 'The Liberation of St Peter'. The window is one of four that Burne-Jones was commissioned to make in April 1863 for the Church of St Michael and All Angels at Lyndhurst in Hampshire.
